One more thing why does marvel switch their artist midway through a story such as switching from ribic to peterson. Or on thor when they started with coipel and then took him out?

I do not know if that is a good example but I know what you mean. Most of the time it comes down to schedule. Either the schedule is to tight or the art takes longer than anticipated. Both happen. No one wants it to but this is a monthly business so the books have to come out.

On the Ultimates Esad finished his arc 1-4 and was able to fit in 5 pages for the next to issues before we went back full time for 7-9 (maybe 10 I just cannot remember) So the script was set up so that would work. Heck I was off of 6 because I just could not fit it in. Hated doing it but that is what happens.

Hope that answers your question

Dean I just picked up the Ultimates 1-4 and you blow my mind. You and Ribic are the dream team. I havn't been this impressed since ultimate hulk vs wolverine or all star superman. If i won the lottery tomorrow I would buy the rights to DBZ and have You and Ribic do a reboot. Bye bye.

Thanks ROBOnaut. Glad you like the book. Ribic and I are having fun with it. What is DBZ?

dean-
ive listened/read some interviews with you recently-very informative, quick question, in your process of coloring, ex.the xforce pages, do you have these pages flatted like a normal colorist would want them or do you just go for grey tones freehand and attack?
thanks so much

I have them flatted, then make a second flat layer that is just for the panels. I usually start there. Laying in the colors for the panels and working fast and loose. Then tighten it up as I go. Working from General/Big Shapes to Specific/Small shapes. It is how I approach all the books. So yes I use the flats but not at first. First it is just the panel as a whole
